Poems

“Sometimes”

You see a little baby
Bright and full of life
Expressions spread across their face
You know they’ll turn out right

Eyes full and wide with sight
Just looking to be seen
Eyes looking right into you
With nothing in between

You have no idea
Of the hours that loom before
Impossible to imagine
The steadfastness that’s in store

If you could just consider
The energy that’s inside
With its power to take your heart
And grow it to a huge size

The hours and days and months of time
You’ll look and hope to see
Will he grow to be a young man?
You’ll have to wait to see

“COLIE”

My tiny little porcelain doll
My littler tiger buns
You’ve found your stairs to heaven
You are the chosen one.

You came to us two years ago
So small but oh so strong
And though I know it’s for the best
It feels so very wrong

They say were not to question god
Don’t even ask him why
But I’ll always ask this question
As I’m trying not to cry.

We know you’re in a better place
You’re free from all your pain
And you’re shining down upon us
Wanting us to smile again.

So my tiny little warrior
With such strength we’ve never seen
You’ll by greeted at the pearly gates
By Sean and Dakota Dean.

They’ll take you and they’ll guide you
They’ll lead you all the way
They’ll teach you all the ins and outs
And then you just can play.

And when you’ve had enough of that
You’ll talk, you’ll laugh, you’ll sing
Then you’ll go and meet with god
For your halo and your wings

And yes, this will be hard for us
But your strength will keep us strong
Cause we know you’re in a better place
In God’s hands where you belong.
